Hazmat Response

Length:  5-10 minutes

You take the role of a firefighter responding to a spill of sodium hypochlorite at a pool supply store.  You will:

  • Choose a safe place to park based on the Emergency Response Guide (ERG).
  • Determine priorities in responding to an incident.
  • Identify proper decontamination practices.

This scenario is for beginners and can be completed without prior knowledge of hazmat response.

IRS Compliance Research

Taking the role of an IRS researcher, you will research the most effective way to encourage small business owners to accurately report their taxable income.  You will:

  • Develop a research question that is specific, practical, and based on prior research.
  • Design a study to answer the research question.
  • Analyze data and draw conclusions.

No prior knowledge of compliance research is required.

Pizza Parlor Math Challenge

Pizza Parlor Math Challenge is designed for elementary school children (third through fifth graders).  Your challenge is to order pizza ingredients at the lowest cost.  You will:

  • Figure out how much you need of each ingredient.
  • Calculate unit prices for two sellers.
  • Decide which seller to use for each ingredient.
